I wear my heart on my sleeve, pinned on my red jacket
So when it's bleeding you can't tell the difference.
I read your poetry, I've seen your art. Or something.
I slip on the black ice and fall face flat.
I think that it'd hurt less if you came back.
A crisis after crisis, a lack of confidence.
Quarter to midlife, build some monument I guess.
If I write a catchy chorus and make it sound important do you think there will be kids that write the words on the wall?
I read your poetry, I've seen your art. Or something.
I slip on the black ice and fall face flat.
I think that it'd hurt less.
If I write a catchy chorus and make it sound important do you think there will be kids that write the words on the wall?
I read your poetry, I've seen your art. Or something.
I slip on the black ice and fall face flat.
I think that it'd hurt less.
If you came back, if you came back.
If you came back, if you came back.

It starts with a sound wave
Cuts through an ear like broken glass
It feels like you’re winning
But on top they’ll call you trash
Learning an alphabet
Navigating cameos in hillsides
The prospects of projects
Or gateways to nothing at all
You can’t love the art and pay the rent
Strings turn to sirens, speakers go silent
Wait 'til the cops come
You look for a miracle for sure I know you care
Just wait 'til the cops come
Tried cutting my hair once
Heard there’s a market for the sorta thing
Turned into new wrecks by a public kept in the Black
Natural selection when castaways riot
Then they’re under attack, take it back take it back take it back
You can’t love the art and pay the rent
Strings turn to sirens, speakers go silent
Wait 'til the cops come
You look for a miracle for sure I know you care
Just wait 'til the cops come
Let them eat cake and drink their tea
What will they take that once was free?
Let them eat cake and drink their tea
They are the enemy
You can’t love the art and pay the rent
Strings turn to sirens, speakers go silent
Wait 'til the cops come
You look for a miracle for sure I know you care
Just wait 'til the cops come
